Basking Ridge NJ Real Estate

Basking Ridge NJ Real EstateLocated in a widely favorable portion of Somerset County, Basking Ridge, New Jersey is a highly sought after location for northern New Jersey’s white-collar real estate market. An unincorporated component of Bernards Township, Basking Ridge is home to many upscale beautiful homes all set in the backdrop of some of this Country’s richest historical settings. Continually, Basking Ridge NJ real estate is widely desired, often considered among the most sought after in all of Somerset County.

Along with being a peaceful, yet upscale zip code, Basking Ridge is also home to many notable and historic landmarks. Originally built in 1768 as a dull wooden structure, the Van Dorn Mill was rebuilt in 1843 with the idea of becoming the finest stone structure in all of New Jersey. Using thousands of stones hauled in from local farm hedgerows, builders were paid one dollar a day to help construct the stone mill. Once completed, the materials and labor totaled $5,000 – and an extremely large amount for that time period. Fortunately for the future of the Van Dorn Mill, the cost was easily paid for within the span of one year of production. Another notable place within Basking Ridge is the Presbyterian Church. Built in 1839, the Greek Revival church is listed on the New Jersey and National Register of Historic Places. It is in the Presbyterian Church’s graveyard that many find the Old Oak Tree – where it is believed that George Washington hade picnicked during the Revolutionary War. Designed to function as a prep school for young men, the Brick Academy fueled the education of Basking Ridge’s youth in and effort to prepare them for the College of New Jersey, know more widely known as Princeton. The Brick Academy was originally known as the Basking Ridge Classical School, it later served as a public school, union hall, town hall and now serves as a historic museum.

Now, along with its recognition of being a place where you can find the best in life, Basking Ridge is home to one of the largest telecommunications corporations in the world, Verizon Wireless. Many executives not only make residence in Basking Ridge and the surrounding area, but surely take advantage of the various notable golf courses and country clubs that can be found. Whether it’s the historic landmarks or simply the choice pieces of property, Basking Ridge NJ Real Estate offers some of the most premiere residences in all of north central New Jersey.
