Primarily a getaway location for vacationers, Winter Park was officially founded on August 1, 1978. Since it’s founding, Winter Park has grown in size and population with incorporating neighboring villages as well as gaining notoriety for its ski slopes and outdoor activities. Home to the Winter Park Ski Resort, thousands find their way to the 3,060 skiable acres during winter months. But much more than a ski town, Winter Park boasts some of the most enjoyable mountain biking trails in the Rockies. For the outdoors type, trophy fly-fishing is also found winding throughout Winter Park’s crystal clear mountain streams.
